Jim Shipley is an educator with over 20 years of administrative experience serving as a principal, area superintendent and associate superintendent. Until 1998, Jim served as Executive Director of the Pinellas County Quality Academy and implemented use of the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria in 155 school sites and all district-level administration and supporting services units. He coordinated the strategic effort necessary to transform a school system of over 100,000 students and 17,000 employees and to apply for and be presented the prestigious Florida State Sterling Quality Award. Key to his success has been the translation of the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria into user friendly materials and training to assist school districts in implementing a systems approach from the Board room to the classroom.

These Criteria represent the benchmarks for management excellence across the country and around the world.

One-day New Examiner Orientation Sessions for WFA’s summer cycle is scheduled for June 13th and June 21st (you select which date works best for you).   These sessions will be held in the Madison area, with additional locations and dates added to meet participant needs and schedules.  The orientation will be a combination of e-learning modules and face to face orientation.

Two-day all Examiner training sessions for WFA’s summer cycle will be the held on July 25-26th.

Whether your organization is writing its first application, or continuing on its journey toward performance excellence, this full-day workshop will provide a wide range of useful information, including  tips for writing the application to the Criteria, aligning responses to the organizational profile, a discussion of how award levels are determined, the role of the judges, and insight into what to expect during a site visit.

The May 30th workshop is geared toward first time applicants while the June 6th workshop is designed for returning applicants looking to fine-tune their applications. The workshops will be held in Madison from 9am to 3pm.
