Managing Change: The Proactive Approach Out in Front of the Change

We are all dealing with accelerating levels of change, in part due to the pandemic but also just the increasing speed of information, the evolution of technology, and general changes in business. Organizations that are better at managing change will do better than those that don’t, and leaders who are better at proactively leading through change will inspire and enable teams to better achieve their goals.
The Wisconsin Center for Performance Excellence is pleased to announce a special online workshop, hosted in partnership with the Alliance for Performance Excellence on March 31: Managing Change: The Proactive Approach Out in Front of the Change. The Alliance for Performance Excellence is the national network of Baldrige-based organizations working to advance excellence across the US, and this is the first in a quarterly Professional Development Series. The workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Mac McGuire, CEO of the Quality Texas Foundation (a peer organization to WCPE that serves Texas, Missouri, and Kansas).
This workshop incorporates the latest change management research on both organizational and personal changes post COVID-19. It uses a variety of sources, including Harvard Business School, MIT/Sloan Management, and the work of John Kotter, author of Leading Change (updated in 2020). The workshop will explore the eight-step process of Change Management and Accelerating Change, which is transferrable to all types and sizes organizations. You will learn how to assess your current situation and take bold steps to create a sense of urgency; generate short-term wins and remove barriers; and institute and sustain change within your organizations or your teams. The discussion incorporates concepts from the validated Baldrige Framework (though your organization need not be officially using Baldrige to learn the tools for managing change).
